ABSTRACT
Background: Secondary Dentine Is Deposition Along The Wall Of The Dental Pulp Chamber Leading To A Reduction In The Size Of The Pulp Cavity With Age.
Objective: Investigate The Three Dimensional Volumetric Change Of The Root Canal Systems Of Mandibular Canines Teeth In And To Correlate The Findings With The Patient?s Age And Gender.
Materials and Methods: 150 Randomly Selected Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) Images For Different Age Groups Were Used To Calculate Pulp/tooth Volume In Mandibular Canines And Analyze Volume Change By Age.
Results: Strongest Negative Correlation Between The Pulp?tooth Volume Ratio And Age Was Measured On Canines (r= -0.886, -0.850 In Males And Females Respectively).
Conclusions: Volume Changes Of The Pulp Chamber In Intact Teeth Can Be Considered As A Dental Age Predictor.
